"Socialism would gather all power to the supreme party and party leaders, rising like stately pinnacles above their vast bureaucracies of civil servants no longer servants, no longer civil." - Sir Winston Churchill

Nothing New Under the Sun

Here's a fascinating nine-minute video of excerpts from two speeches given by Robert Welch in 1974. In the first speech you'll hear him quote from his 1958 speech about the ten dangerous trends for the U.S. In the second speech you'll hear his platform for what should be done to preserve freedom in our nation. Listening to this speech over 30 years later, it is amazing just how similar Robert Welch's prescription for America in 1974 is to Ron Paul's campaign platform in 2008. It is even more fascinating how prophetic those words appear to have been.

"peace on Communist terms" Until Ron Paul, those who wanted peace only had ANSWER coalition and their ilk. However, most of us know that those organizations are not for peace, only "peace on Communist terms."

This is a truly brilliant man. I'm embarrassed to say I've never heard of him before. Certainly not in school. It's a shame because i feel his message would resonate with the youth of America.

  2. Unfortunately most people have not so you’re not alone. His message however is timeless and in that way I view him as a sort of “Frederic Bastiat” of the 20th century. Bastiat wrote The Law and other essays in the 1840-50’s yet did not gain widespread notoriety until the early 20th century. I hope people begin to revisit the views of Robert Welch in like manner.

Machiavelli wasn't published until many years after his death, too. I'm sure there are plenty of other examples.

Ron Paul has been at this for almost 30 years and we're finally listening to his ideas now that he is in the twilight of his life.

I hope it doesn't take much longer for Peter Schiff to gain an audience. Speaking of which that girl, Lila is absolutely amazing. Thanks for the link to her blog, tbp.
